What is Lithium iron phosphate battery ?
lithium iron phosphate is used as the cathode material of lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion battery cathode materials are mainly lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, lithium nickel oxide, ternary materials, lithium iron phosphate ,etc. Lithium cobalt oxide is the most popularly used cathode material by most lithium-ion batteries recently.
What is Lithium iron phosphate batteries advantage ?
lithium iron phosphate batteries have eight advantages:
1).improvement of safety performance
The lithium iron phosphate crystals P-O bond is solid and difficult to break down, it would not be performing same with lithium cobalt oxide structure collapse heat or the form strong oxidizing substances even at high temperatures or overcharge , so it has good safety. Some reports pointed out that in practice, acupuncture or short-circuit test found a small part of the sample combustion phenomenon, but did not appear an explosion. Nevertheless, its overcharge safety compared to ordinary liquid electrolyte lithium cobalt oxide battery, has greatly improved.
2).Life cycle improvement
Lithium iron phosphate battery is lithium-ion battery composed by lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material.
Long-life lead-acid battery cycle life is about 300 times, the highest is around 500 times, and the life cycle of lithium iron phosphate battery for power usage could be up to 2000 times. The same quality of lead-acid batteries is up to 1 to 1.5 years max, but lithium iron phosphate batteries in the same conditions, the theoretical life expectancy will reach 7 to 8 years. Taken together, the price-performance ratio is more than 4 times then lead acid batteries. High-current discharge can be a large current 2C fast charge and discharge. With 1.5C charge within 40 minutes to charge the battery full, starting current up to 2C, but lead-acid batteries have not such performance.
3).Good high temperature performance
Lithium iron phosphate heat peak is up to 350 ℃ -500 ℃ and lithium manganese oxide and lithium cobalt oxide is only about 200 ℃. Wide operating temperature range (-20C - +75 C).
Has a larger capacity than ordinary batteries (lead-acid, etc.). 5AH-1000AH (single cell)
5).No memory effect
Rechargeable batteries capacity would be quickly lower than the rated capacity value if it offen working at a condition of full charging but not 100%discharging,this is called memory effect. Like nickel-metal batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries performing with memory effect,but lithium iron phosphate batteries have no such phenomenon.
With same capacity, lithium iron phosphate battery size is 2/3 SLA battery, and weight is 1/3 .
The battery is generally considered to contain no heavy metals or rare metals (nickel-metal hydride batteries need rare metals), non-toxic (SGS certification passed), pollution-free, in line with European RoHS regulations, as the absolute green battery certificate.
What’s the Lithium iron phosphate batteries features?
